FIDE elects President 29 September

The present President of the World Chess Federation (FIDE) Kirsan Ilyumzhinov and the world chess ex-champion Anatoly Karpov have been nominated as candidates for FIDE’s new president.
The ballot vote will take place on September 29 at FIDE’s general assembly. 167 countries will take part in the vote.
Mr. Karpov was nominated by chess federations of the US and France, while Mr. Ilyumzhinov – by the Russian chess federation.
