Chess Match between Sighted and the Blind was totally one sided. 20 Blind turned up consisting two from MAB trainees, 8 from Pendidikan Khas Setapak, 3 from Malaysian Braille and the rest blind players from Kuala Lumpur.
It was over 16 Braille Boards vs CM Fadli Zakaria (4 boards), Coach Rizal AK (4 boards), Coach Asmah Hambadly (2 boards) MCF Vice President Haslindah Ruslan (2 boards), Mohd Faisal Zakaria (2 boards) and Ahmad Zaimi (2 boards) in Round 1 Time Simul Result 1 - 15, only Hj Shaharuddin Sidek frm Negeri Sembilan Paralimpiad Team managed to beat Coach Rizal AK.
The Blind Team was totally outplayed by the sighted as only 8 sighted players turned up so 6 players decided to take on the blind in a Time Simul Match with Braille Chess Boards.
A second Round Match was carried out with SifuLatiff also playing taking on 4 Blind players but all matches were not completed due time factor with the VIPs arriving to watch and Malaysian Paralimpic Council receiving RM100,00 grant from JACTIM, a Japanese group in helping to develop sports in Paralimpic games like Chess, Carrom and Cycling in the purchase of equipments for the PWDs (Person With Disabilities) in Malaysia.
Most players from the Blind team, the Pendidikan Khas School and MAB will be awarded with chess braille boards to help them having the chess braille boards to practice their chess skills at their own time and cosy home atmosphere. As owning a personal chess board is beyond the capability of the most blind due to the cost but with JACTIM, MPM and leaders like Dato Zainal, Dr Radakrisnan and Hj Zainal will see the blind having their own braille chess boards in the future.
But the Match had the support from MCF Vice President, Puan Haslindah Ruslan (playing clock simul and winning both matches), MCF Honorary Secretary Gregory Lau, apart from MPM council members, JACTIM, Welfare Department PWD Head and the media.
