Kim Phung wins U20 Asian chess champion the second time
VietNamNet Bridge – The female chess player from the ancient city of Hue won two gold medals for standard chess and blitz chess at the Asian U20 Championship while Mai Hung won the bronze medal.

The round 9 of the standards chess competition of the U20 Asian Championships ended on April 6 in the United Arab Emirates, with the championship belonging to Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Phung.

In the final round, Kim Phung held the black chess pieces and broke a draw against Diana Assaubayeva of Kazakhstan and won the championship with 7 points. 

Meanwhile, Nguyen Thi Mai Hung jumped up to the third place overall and won the bronze medal with 6.5 points after a win against Pujari Rucha. Meanwhile, Hoang Thi Nhu Y lost in the last game before J Saranya of India. The India player won the silver bronze.

The U20 Asia Chess Championship ended with great success for the Vietnamese team and Vietnam’s Vo Thi Kim Phung. This is the second time Kim Phung winning the championship at the tournament. Moreover, she won both the gold medals for standard chess and blitz chess. 

In addition, the Vietnamese team also has a silver medal of blitz chess of Hoang Thi Nhu Y and a bronze medal of standard chess of Nguyen Thi Mai Hung.

In the men’s event, the blitz chess championship belongs to the Salem AR Saleh of the UAE while the gold medal for standard chess came to Narayanan Srinath of India.
